Biologist · AI for science
I'm a biologist working where science meets artificial intelligence. My work runs on three fronts: research, the infrastructure that makes research possible, and teaching people to use AI with judgment.
Research
I built Theia, an edge-AI app that runs geometric morphometrics on a phone, offline, in the field. The paper is published in Methods in Ecology and Evolution (2026), and I'm now taking it further toward an open web platform. With the Department of Genetics at the University of Granada, I study phenotypic plasticity as a driver of evolution, through reanalysis and AI-assisted synthesis of published common-garden data. I also co-author research on motivation and healthy lifestyles in future teachers. For my MSc thesis, with Ellips B.V., I recover the 3D shape and pose of fruit from the cameras of industrial grading lines.
Building
My projects live under Crisopeya: Scheria, a platform where domain scientists, AI researchers and institutions collaborate on research data under EU AI Act and GDPR governance, now in closed beta; Calidoscopio, evidence-based workshops on the safe and critical use of AI for students, teachers and families in Granada; and Next City, Please, a pixel-art arcade game from Over Elaboration Studios.
Background
I studied Biology at the University of Granada and I'm finishing an MSc in Responsible AI at OPIT (Open Institute of Technology). Argentinian and Italian, based near Granada, Spain.
